Why Solid Forged?
The picture below is a radiograph (x-ray) taken of a 300mm 'forged' Wheel Spanner that had been in use at a major UK Oil refinery. It could be sold as a forged spanner because the finger has been forged, but the radiograph shows that the spanner is also welded and there is complete lack of fusion for the full length of the weld. Therefore this is NOT a solid forged wheel spanner. There was also a thick layer of paint covering the weld.
